In a great example of life imitating art, Cornwall Pure
Business, the county's inward investment body, has announced that
three new 'environmentally minded' businesses, SciArt Solutions,
SEA Marketing and Lowdon Design, have moved into Penryn's iconic
new business premises, Jubilee Wharf. The three join a further 20
businesses already enjoying life in the zero carbon building,
bringing great expertise and skills to what is fast becoming a hub
of creativity and innovation.
Jubilee Wharf is one of the leading zero carbon buildings in the
country. The unique design of the workspace provides a creative and
inspirational environment for like minded businesses.
SciArt Solutions, SEA Marketing and Lowdon Design all moved to the county in the past two years, where they have immersed themselves into the Cornish business community.
SciArt Solutions, run by Dr Joanna Henley, uses visual arts to interpret scientific ideas to a wide variety of different audiences. A marine scientist and artist, Dr Henley communicates scientific ideas, such as environmental sustainability, in an interdisciplinary way, working with Cornish schools, museums and the local authority amongst others.
Dr Henley explains:
"The move to Jubilee Wharf is perfect for my business. Not only
does it inspire me to operate more sustainably, it is also an
inspiring workspace. I feel the potential of Jubilee Wharf is
beginning to be realised, it's a great building and the first of
its kind in the UK, and it's a great privilege to work here.
Working in the field of both science and art, Jubilee Wharf
complements my business ethos perfectly."
Rob Woolf, trading as SEA Marketing, is a web-based
consultant who adds value by delivering improvements to the
performance of websites and businesses, adds:
"Jubilee Wharf is such a perfect environment to do good work from.
There's no hullabaloo here. Just a great space to think and be
inspired by, which hopefully comes across in my work."
John Lowdon, owner of Lowdon Design adds:
"We were delighted when the opportunity to move to Jubilee Wharf
arose. It's a privilege to be working here. What's fantastic is
that there is a real hub of complementary businesses which means we
can often collaborate with other businesses on joint pieces of
work, which adds to the working environment. It's a great example
of how businesses can add value to their clients. For example, as a
design company we are always looking at different ways to respond
to briefs. At Jubilee Wharf, we have access to interior designers,
architects, web designers, who we can share ideas with, providing
the client with a more comprehensive offering."
Andrew Marston, founder of Jubilee Wharf added:
"We are delighted that these three businesses have joined Jubilee
Wharf, we are now at full capacity and believe the mix of
businesses is just right, reflecting the ethos of the development
as a whole. At the end of the buildings' first year in operation,
there is now a real community here and I hope this will continue to
flourish."
