I'd Rather be in Cornwall Club Event - A Great Success!

I'd Rather Be In Cornwall Club

Late October saw Cornwall Pure Business host another event in London for businesses keen to make the move to Cornwall.  Guests enjoyed a relaxed evening of wine and canapés at Champagne Charlie's, a new location underneath the arches of Charing Cross station and just a stone's throw from the river Thames.  Champagne Charlie's exudes a kind of Dickensian charm, but the atmosphere could hardly have been more different as potential relocators from the ultra modern worlds of IT, environmental technology and the media networked with inward investors from the county, gaining valuable insights into the relocation experiences of others.

The guest speaker was James Staughton, Managing Director of St Austell Breweries, who entertained his audience with his own experiences of running a highly successful business in the county. "In the 1980s my friends thought I was mad moving to Cornwall, but now they're extremely envious of my business and my lifestyle", he said.  He went on to discuss how his brewery has transformed the perceived negatives of being based in Cornwall into positives, creating a unique brand recognised around the country.

Guests had the opportunity to discuss their plans in more detail with representatives from other Cornish support organisations including Finance Cornwall and Unlocking Cornish Potential, covering the important themes of funding and recruitment of high quality, highly qualified staff.
