The directors of The Print Environment Limited have today announced that they have been awarded a £65,000 Selective Finance for Investment in England (SFI) Grant from the South West Regional Development Agency (RDA).
The company specialises in graphics printing on a range of contemporary materials using the relatively new and innovative techniques of Digital "dye sublimation" and are recognised throughout the industry to be at the leading edge of developing new and innovative applications on a whole range of products.
The new investment will be used to accelerate the company's plans to pioneer two and three dimensional printing on a whole range of surfaces, from ceramics, plastics, textiles, glass, wood and will be used mainly to invest in state of the art Dye Sublimation manufacturing equipment from the UK and Europe. In addition, the business is looking to create 14 new jobs over the next two years.
The South West RDA was impressed with the plans of the directors to push The Print Environment to the forefront of this emerging print technology which has seen annual worldwide growth of 30% over the last three years and similar expansion for the foreseeable future.
The joint Managing Directors, Nick Davies and John Purse had
already made significant investment in starting up the company by
buying a new 5000 sq ft unit on the new and prestigious St. Columb
Major Business Park and have also relocated with their young
families to North Cornwall.
As Nick Davies explained;
"We work just as hard in Cornwall as we did in the Midlands, but
seem to have a more pro-active approach from organisations like the
South West RDA, Cornwall Pure Business and other government support
agencies. The funding was the final piece of the jigsaw in helping
our company secure a flying start. We can now embark on the next
two years with a measure of confidence that would not have been
there without this additional investment."
Paul Wilson, Business Investment Adviser at the RDA, said:
"Our role is to invest to unlock the region's business potential
and the Selective Finance for Investment programme is an excellent
example of that. What makes The Print Environment stand out is
their cutting-edge expertise in what is a growing sub-sector of the
print industry. Their new technology has a range of applications
including the region's marine sector which is a priority for the
RDA, and their innovation helps underpin the company's projected
growth, creating skilled new jobs. We're delighted that our
investment has enabled the company to plan for future growth in
Cornwall."
The company is now involved in recruiting and developing a skilled team to make The Print Environment a recognised leader in its high add value and customised print marketplace both in the UK and abroad.
