Johnny Pope has spent a number of years in web design mastering the latest technologies and techniques. Having worked as a designer for various leading companies he then became a freelancer and received great exposure working for a number of high profile firms.

Johnny eventually ended up in Bristol. He had a dream of running his own business but, like many entrepreneurs, he wasn't quite sure where to start. Then he met Sandra Boehner and the dream rapidly became a reality as it became apparent they both had a common vision.

"Despite my legal background, I have always harboured a long time passion to work within the graphic design industry." said Sandra. "It seemed a logical progression to combine our skills and set up our own company."

IntoArt provides web based solutions focusing on content management as well as training, thus enabling clients to manage their own websites. Johnny said "Having worked in web design for over eight years with a wide range of clients, it was apparent that the majority were not only looking for good quality websites but also for the ability to manage their own. Content management systems allow for this.

IntoArt provides customers with easy to use technology and offers on site training as part of the package." Sandra added "We see IntoArt as a way of approaching problems and achieving solutions. We love what we do and we love working with our clients and we believe this is illustrated in our work. In addition to website development, which includes graphic design, we also register and transfer domain names, and provide fully-complimented web hosting solutions."

Having come up with the idea for IntoArt, moving to Cornwall was the next step. Johnny explained "My family moved back to Cornwall a few years ago and, having spent a lot of time visiting, I had always found it hard to leave. Starting up our own business gave us the freedom to decide our business base and, without hesitation, we chose Cornwall." Sandra said "Cornwall is such a beautiful and inspirational location. We have a panoramic view of the sea from our office and are not far from the beach. Not only that but the creative community down here is fantastic and has been really supportive."

Technology
"As part of our commitment to provide clients with content management systems we use Joomla, a straightforward system already used by Porsche and Skype. The beauty of Joomla is that it is an open source technology, with no licensing fees, therefore providing the customer with better value for money and more affordable packages." explained Johnny. Other packages IntoArt uses include Macromedia Dreamweaver MX, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator CS.

Clients
The company has only been up and running for a few months but has already got a number of clients on its books. Currently clients are locally based and include Evoke scheme supported company Phantasope (www.phantascope.co.uk) which produces experimental optical devices, and St Ives painter Linda Weir (www.lindaweir.com). IntoArt is planning to broaden its client base to service clients across the UK.

Support
"As a new business to Cornwall we have found that networking is essential." said Johnny. IntoArt were supported by Lemon Frog, an approved Institute for Leadership and Management Centre, which assisted with their business plan during a five week business management seminar. IntoArt has also benefited from access to a business adviser from the Princes Trust.

Sandra said that "Without the extraordinary support of the Cornwall Pure Business (now InvestinCornwall) team it would not have been possible to settle in Cornwall so smoothly, and we are really grateful for all the useful advice they have given us."
